Colleen and Alan Foster were married at Iglesia de La Boca in Panama on May 27th, 2007 while Alan was serving there with Peace Corps.
Colleen had worked as a licensed veterinary technician while earning an education degree from Southern Wesleyan University.
Alan had received a biosystems engineering degree from Clemson University and then volunteered for the National Park Service doing water quality sampling before joining Peace Corps.
After marrying, Colleen took a teaching job in Honoka’a, Hawaii at the public elementary school while Alan finished his commitment with Peace Corps.
He then joined her in Hawaii and gradually began working at the same school as an educator and after school program leader.
Kalea Grace was born on June 2nd, 2010.
Colleen and Alan felt the call to return to Panama and left Hawaii in August 2010.
